Proof (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy details the types of information we collect when you use our web application (proofnyc.co), how we use it, and how your data is protected.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account & Authentication: We collect account details such as your email address and username/handle. Your email is kept private and is not displayed publicly in feeds.
  • User-Submitted Content: We collect dish notes, taste ratings, reflections, photos, and other content you choose to submit. Public content and your chosen username/handle may be visible in the community feed.
  • Essential Device & Location Data: When you scan a table plaque, verify a venue, or use map discovery, we may request device and approximate location data strictly to enable spatial discovery and confirm nearby venues. We do not run continuous background tracking or store historical GPS location logs.
  • Interactions: We may store actions such as underlines to maintain your archive and platform features.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected information solely to:

  • Authenticate your session and maintain your digital tasting passport.
  • Render community reflections, calculate dish averages and rankings, and display nearby venues.
  • Detect and prevent spam, abuse, and violations of gathering conduct.
  • Deliver exportable share cards (Story PNG assets) upon your request.

4. Third-Party Infrastructure & Sub-processors

Proof does not sell personal user data to third parties. We may share data with trusted service providers only as necessary to operate Proof, such as Supabase for authentication and database storage, Vercel for hosting, and secure cloud storage for photo assets.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You may request deletion of your account, email address, or authored notes at any time by contacting hello@proofnyc.co. We will process requests subject to legal, security, and operational retention needs.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy as new features are released. Significant updates will be noted by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
